Bringing 60 years of holiday magic to life

Background

It isn’t easy to summarize the multitude of things I’ve been involved in; Trail is a cohesive yet ever-changing environment. Different areas of the park need to distinguish themselves and the experience they provide, all while fitting within the umbrella of a wide-reaching overall brand.

How do you sum up a constantly evolving, year-round project that culminates in a month-long event? In the 60 years since the first Yule Log was lit, the Austin Trail of Lights now features more than 2 million lights illuminating the park, 90 lighted holiday trees and more than 70 other holiday displays and lighted tunnels. Today, the Austin Trail of Lights is one of the three largest events in Austin.

My first project for Forefront Networks was a freelance gig designing 10 brand new portal entrances to different areas of the Trail. Now that I work full time for Forefront, in any given month I’m working on enhancements to displays, new activations, and design overhauls.
